Benzoic acid (E210) is used as food preservative and is most suitable for foods, fruit juices, and soft drinks that are naturally in an acidic pH range.<\/p>\n

Its use as preservative in food, beverages, toothpastes, mouthwashes, dentifrices, cos- metics, and pharmaceuticals is regulated.<\/p>\n

Studies suggest that sodium benzoate may increase your risk of inflammation, oxidative stress, obesity, ADHD, and allergies. It may also convert to benzene, a potential carcinogen, but the low levels found in beverages are deemed safe.<\/p>\n
