{"id":20232,"date":"2024-02-14T19:56:01","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T17:56:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/?p=20232"},"modified":"2024-02-15T12:40:01","modified_gmt":"2024-02-15T10:40:01","slug":"a-walk-to-the-ancient-path-of-agios-vlasios","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/en\/blog\/a-walk-to-the-ancient-path-of-agios-vlasios\/","title":{"rendered":"A walk to the ancient path of Agios Vlasios"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday, February 11, 2024, &#8220;AthensTrainers \u00ae&#8221;, &#8220;Athens Physio&#8221; and and many Galaxidians walked\u00a0 <span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\">for the 1st time<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 the &#8220;ancient path of Agios Vlasios&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-20223\" src=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/peripatiko-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/peripatiko-1.jpg 1269w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/peripatiko-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/peripatiko-1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/peripatiko-1-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Parallel goal was the revival of old Galaxidian customs, which are related to some local religious events.<\/p>\n<p>Guided by Mr. Konstantinos Zervas, we passed the\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\">Loutsina Aqueduct, Traces of ancient Chaleion settlements, Chapel of Agios Vlasios, The Holy Monastery of the Metamorphosis of Sotiros and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\">the Holy Trinity<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\"> Chapel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Nikos Karatzas, cardiologist doctor, his wife Mrs. Sila Karatzas and Mr. Panos Valavanis, professor of archaeology honored us with their precence<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-20225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/peripatiko-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"304\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/peripatiko-2.png 654w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/peripatiko-2-300x183.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We found useful information about the ancient path and Galaxidi from <span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Nikos Karatzas&#8217;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\"> site.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As soon as we arrived at the Church of Agios Vlasios, Mr. Panos Valavanis provided us useful information about\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\">the history of the city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Arriving at the the Metamorphosis of Sotiros, Mr. Spyros Barliakos, the president, welcomed us. The Local Community,\u00a0 the local councilor Mr. Konstantinos Zervas and the employees of the Municipality, took care of cleaning the path to the\u00a0 Chapel of Agios Vlasios for us.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-20229\" src=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/pezoporiko-kalesma-00.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/pezoporiko-kalesma-00.jpg 672w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/pezoporiko-kalesma-00-300x166.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We visited the\u00a0 &#8220;Nautical &amp; Historical Museum&#8221;, where the curator Mrs. Maria Evangelou spoke to us about the important work of Mr. Nikolaos Karatzas and Mr. Panos Valavanis and then unraveled the history of the local Navy.<\/p>\n<p>We also visited two of the captain&#8217;s houses in the area, since one of the nicest ways to get to know a place is to visit an old house and hear its history from its owners. Mrs. Voula Manoloudi and Mrs. Stella Senduka welcomed us and told us about the history of their homes and family.<\/p>\n<p>We headed to the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos, the city&#8217;s landmark, where Mr. Leonidas Katsoulis, the &#8220;keymaster&#8221;, was waiting for us, opened the doors of the church and told us about the history of the church.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we visited the Church of Agia Paraskevi, on the floor of which the zodiac-sunflower is carved while on the outside of the entrance there was a sundial, forming a unique solar calendar.
