{"id":5967,"date":"2017-04-07T16:51:28","date_gmt":"2017-04-07T14:51:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/?p=5967\/"},"modified":"2017-04-09T21:12:02","modified_gmt":"2017-04-09T19:12:02","slug":"cayenne-pepper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/en\/blog\/cayenne-pepper\/","title":{"rendered":"Cayenne Pepper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I recently read\u00a0about\u00a0Cayenne pepper\u00a0in\u00a0Marina\u00a0Pantouria\u2019s\u00a0\u00a0book\u00a0\u00a0\u201chealth without drugs\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--> and having researched it further.. here is what I discovered:\u00a0Cayenne pepper\u00a0is derived from dried chili\u00a0peppers.It contains\u00a0capsaicin, an ingredient which helps relieve headaches and nasal congestion.\u00a0It was named after the city of Cayenne,\u00a0capital of French \u00a0New Guiana,\u00a0where it was originally comprehensively cultivated.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5962 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"443\" height=\"277\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi.jpg 443w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-200x125.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-400x250.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 443px) 100vw, 443px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It originates inCentral and South America from where Christopher Columbus\u00a0and\u00a0Magellan\u00a0brought it to Europe after doctors noticed that natives used it both medicinally as an analgesic, as well as as a spice.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst common pepper is considered as a non nutritious spice,\u00a0cayenne pepper\u00a0is \u00a0considered\u00a0as a super-food as it contains antioxidants such as flavonoids, vitamin C, B carotene. It is also rich in fiber as well as in vitamins B6, E and K.<\/p>\n<p>The list of Cayenne\u00a0pepper&#8217;s\u00a0healing effects is -albeit by exaggeration- endless. This is further proven by the fact that over three thousand medical studies have been documented in international medicinal practice. Cayenne is\u00a0also known\u00a0as \u201cthe king of herbs\u201d.Famous herb healer \u00a0Dr\u00a0Shulze,\u00a0once said \u201cIf you learn to use but one herb in your life, this should be cayenne\u00a0pepper..it\u00a0is the most powerful of them all\u201d. Elsewhere, Dr Christopher stated that during his 35 years of practice he never lost a patient from heart attack as he administered a cup of cayenne tea (one table\u00a0spoon \u00a0in\u00a0a cup of hot water) and as soon as the patient consumed it they\u00a0were up and about!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5963 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"443\" height=\"296\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-1.jpeg 512w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-1-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-1-200x134.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-1-400x267.jpeg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 443px) 100vw, 443px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cayenne pepper:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Improves blood circulation and heart function as it helps reduce \u00a0cholesterol<\/li>\n<li>Helps heal ulcers even though spicy foods are often accused of causing them!<\/li>\n<li>There are &#8211; yet to be medically substantiated indications- that cayenne helps cure prostate cancer<\/li>\n<li>It \u00a0Boosts the immune system<\/li>\n<li>Tea made of Cayenne pepper effectively cures the \u00a0common cold<\/li>\n<li>It reduces appetite and therefore helps against obesity which is one of the greatest medical problems of our day.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5964 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-00.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"443\" height=\"245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-00.jpg 672w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-00-300x166.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-00-200x111.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-00-400x221.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.athenstrainers.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/piperi-00-600x332.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 443px) 100vw, 443px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is evident that chili peppers and cayenne pepper are a nutritional miracle. Beware though,\u00a0\u00a0in case you feel &#8220;hot&#8221; avoid using\u00a0water. Capsaicin \u00a0is not water soluble &#8211; it is soluble by fatty substances.
