The new trend in fitness after the appearance of Aerial yoga, is no other than the Aerial Pilates®.
For the first time exercises are presented in a hammock which have the style, the color and the philosophy of Pilates from the widespread system of ATHENSTRAINERS® ULTIMATE PILATES SYSTEM®
This training system includes exercises in an upright position away from the hammock, in a seated position inside it, in a supine or in a prone position either inside or on the ground, on a kneeling position and many others.
In a seated position away from the hammock … lets try … .SAW
Steps to perform exercise SAW:
Step 1. In a seated position (sitting) with legs extended and flex, shoulder width and more apart
Step 2. Shoulders are above the sitting bones
Step 3. Arms outstretched in abduction with the right palm in the hammock
Step 4. Inhale, extend and rotate your torso to the right. Exhale and bend towards the right leg while you lead the little finger of your left hand to the little finger of your foot outside
Step 5. At the same time lead your right arm (which is in the hammock) backwards with your little finger facing upwards
Step 6. You can stay there for a few cycles of breaths or you can return to the first position and repeat the exercise
Basic cues:
- Feel both of your hips firmly on the floor or otherwise feel your pelvis squared
- Lengthen and twist your torso
- Feel the contrast between your left hand which tends forward and right and your left hip
- Imagine that you want to bend over a large ball
- Press the back of your foot on the floor for greater stability
- Keep your feet strongly flexed
- Feel the contrast between the left hand which tends forward and the right one which tends backwards … Feel the stretch and the elongation of your arms that want to “go out” of your shoulder joint… Keep the cloth of the hammock stretched
- Feel the stretch in the middle part of your back
- Keep your gaze to the little finger of your backhand during the bending of your torso
- POWERHOUSE in and up
