Pilates for kids

In the last five years the spreading of the Pilates system in our country is rapidly! Let’s see how Pilates exercises can be modified to be suitable for children with key components of the game and fun.

Pilates is for everyone, for children and elderly people. It is particularly, for children who study many hours grow up sharply and adopt postures which cause significant problems in their spinal cord. Pilates exercises can be incorporated into their general training program in the form of game and fun.

Spine twist

Starting position: in a seated position, legs outstretched shoulder width apart, arms out to the sides at shoulder-height

Execution: both kids turn to the right side side and stop when their hand touches the hand of the other. Repeat the other side.

Rolling like a ball:

Move back and forth having a miniball between ankles. Toes do not touch the mattress.

Sitting on one big ball/fitball scoop the abdominals and round your back until the mid back reaches the ball beneath you, then engage your abs even deeper and roll back up to your starting position.

Run posteriorly sloping pelvis and pull, keeping your hands in shoulder flexion place, having the elastic band as a handle.

Lift one knee of the ball and try to make your friend to lose his balance by pulling the elastic band in whatever direction you want.

Get and give the fitball from feet to feet, while bending forward touching the tips of your friend’s hands in between.
